I’m going to mention the c word. Yes, Christmas is just around the corner. As much as we love over indulging on festive food and wine, too much time with the in-laws or screaming, over excited children can leave us pulling our hair out. What better place to get away from all the Christmas chaos than a quiet sanctuary at the end of the garden? Make an excuse and slip away for a few minutes or a few hours and recharge your batteries. Then you can be ready to take on all the fun and chaos that Christmas inevitably brings.

If you do have the extended family descending on you this Christmas, our garden rooms provide excellent guest accommodation. We can build them with en-suites and kitchen facilities so your guests have their own private space, away from the main house. All our garden rooms are built to exceed building regulation standards and are signed off by an independent planning inspector. This is particularly important if you want to use your garden room for people to sleep in, as building regulations are required by law.

Equally, has a helpful friend or relative bought the kids a drum set or another particularly noisy toy? Send the children to the garden room so they can play and make as much noise as they like. All our garden rooms are fully insulated and sound-proofed so they won’t disturb you or the neighbours! That’s because all our garden rooms or garden studios are constructed using a ground-breaking material called Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs). SIPs consist of an insulating foam core sandwiched between two structural facings. This results in our garden rooms being 7 times stronger than timber frame, and 3 times stronger than brick.

SIPs are great at soundproofing and sound absorption because of the layered nature of the panels. The SIPs form the walls, floors and ceiling so absorb sound from all angles.

Hawksbeck are partnered with one of the largest and best SIP manufacturers in the UK. They are industry accredited and have been awarded Gold by the Structural Timber Association. Without the need for planning (build within Permitted Development rules) we can achieve better construction and thermal performance at a cheaper price than a builder using traditional methods.

SIPs also offer excellent insulation. The right insulation keeps your garden room cool in the summer and warm on those cold winter nights. SIPs have excellent thermal performance which drastically reduces your energy bills. Hawksbeck garden rooms have lower u-values compared to the target set by building regulations and by a nationwide competitor. U-values measure howslowly heat is able to transmit through something and therefore how it performs as an insulator. Simply put, the lower the U-value the better!

If the insulation isn’t enough and you want to make your garden room feel even more Christmassy and cosy, we can incorporate log burners into your garden room. If we have a white Christmas, what better place to curl up together and enjoy mulled wine or some hot cocoa around the fire. When thinking about the design of your garden room, talk to us about the options for adding a log burning stove. There is an ambience that a wood burning stove offers, that is perfect for Christmas time or on cold nights. They look cosy and give a level of comfort and warmth unmatched by any alternative heating system. You won’t want to leave your garden room on a cold, Christmas day!

Our garden rooms can be finished with cedar cladding and a living or sedum roof so it can be integrated beautifully into your garden. That way you can be confident that your garden room will stand up to any harsh weather. All our garden rooms come with a 10 year warranty, and with a life expectancy of a minimum of 60 years so you know your investment will last. We include building regulations sign off as part of our price. That means you get an independent inspection at multiple points during the build with a certificate upon completion. This is exactly the same inspection that would be carried out if you were extending your house.

So what better Christmas gift to give yourself than a warm, inviting, relaxing garden room. And you’re only four simple steps away from it.

The first step is talking to us.

Our team will discuss your requirements and identify the best option for you, whether it’s a garden room home office you need or a multi-room garden annex. Our garden rooms are all bespoke but remember bespoke to us means getting exactly what you want and not paying for what you do not need.

We can guide you on how many windows and doors you need to maximise light, recommend the best insulation so it’s cosy in the winter and cool in the summer, lighting, interior lay out and so on. We can take you through our range and discuss any additional services you may require , such as offering you a complete garden renovation or landscaping services.

The second step is a free home visit.

We recommend an initial free of charge visit to your home to offer advice on design options, add-ons, costs and options to suit your budget as well as measuring up your garden space if required. We understand that your project is unique and we pride ourselves on our highly personal approach to every garden room.

The third is the quotation.

Once we carry out the site survey and fully understand your needs, we can then send you a quote for your garden studio. We pride ourselves on giving detailed, and fully itemized quotes (not estimates), so you know exactly where your money is being spent.

The fourth is start building!

The average build time is 10 working days depending on any additional services you require. Our lead times are on average 6 weeks from placing an order.

You can relax safe in the knowledge that with Hawksbeck there is no need to disrupt any family life in the main house as all our building work is done with the least amount of disruption. We take the approach of constructing all our garden rooms on site.
